What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Being together with my whole family including uncles, aunts, and cousins. We always go with our family to Belgium and stay there for lots of eating and drinking together. We also go for a long walk in the forest (before covid happened).
What are you grateful your parents did around the holidays?
Bringing everyone together.
As we cannot celebrate as normal with the large group this year, we will try to come together virtually to still have that Christmas feeling.Maryse Weinberg
What do you want this season to be about?
As we cannot celebrate as normal with the large group this year, we will try to come together virtually to still have that Christmas feeling.
What do you typically eat around the holidays?
We have eaten the same menu for a very long time (probably for 100 years!) which is hare (haas) with mashed potatoes, stewed pears, and veggies. We also have a special cake for dessert that we buy at one specific bakery in Belgium, it's called Gateau Misérable and I love it! We drink red wine that everyone brings, mostly from the Bordeaux region in France. During the day, we enjoy ‘viaai’ from Limburg (pie), since my (mother’s) family is originally from there.
Anything else you'd like to share?
Even though some of us need to deal with restrictions, I hope everyone will have an amazing Christmas time this year!
