What is Movember?
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.
Since inception in 2003, the Movember Foundation has raised $837 million and funded over 1,250 projects in more than 20 countries.
What does Movember mean to you?
I started participating in Movember in 2010 with some friends by growing a mustache, At the time I didn't really understand the significance behind the movement. But each year learned more about the cause and took a more active role in fundraising and raising awareness.

The past two years have been especially significant as an immediate family member was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In November and December, they are undergoing 31 radiation treatments after their prostate was surgically removed, It was difficult to process the emotions and putting more effort behind Movember was one way to support my family.
Do you grow a stash in Movember?
Every year, for the past 11 years! Funny enough, | met my wife on October 31st with a full beard but the next time we saw each other in November, I had a mustache. Whether at work, with friends, or just out and about, it is amazing, how much discussion is started with the mustache!
How do people participate in Movember?
There are many ways to participate. Growing a mustache is not the only way to get involved (but of course highly encouraged!). Anyone can raise funds and raise awareness by registering with Movember.com and:
- During November, move 60 km in honor of the 60 men we lose to suicide every hour;
- Organize a Mo-ment by bringing family and friends together;
- Make donation to a Movember participant or team;
- Encourage men to be proactive when it comes to their health;
- Offer support and show love for the mustache.
